Turmeric and ginger tea

A soothing tea that combines the health benefits of turmeric and ginger - ideal for boosting the immune system, especially on cold days.



Ingredients (for 2 cups):

  • 500 ml water
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (or 1-2 cm fresh turmeric, grated)
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 pinch of black pepper (promotes the absorption of turmeric)
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 slice of lemon (optional)

Preparation:

Boil the water

Heat the water in a small saucepan.

Add the ingredients

Add the turmeric, ginger and black pepper to the hot water and simmer over a medium heat for 5-7 minutes.

Strain

Pour the tea through a fine sieve into cups to remove the solids.

Sweeten and refine

Sweeten to taste with honey or maple syrup. Serve with an optional slice of lemon.

Serve

Enjoy the tea hot and savour the warming effect.

Tip

This tea is ideal as a daily immune booster. For a more intense effect, you can add a small pinch of cinnamon.
